This Electric Oven Upper Bake Element is a replacement part for the upper oven heating element that provides constant heat when cooking. If your oven does not bake properly, check to see if there is a burned-out section of the element and replace if needed. Installing the new element will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the oven and novice repair experience. Replacing the 74004105 Whirlpool Range Oven Bake Element, Upper
1. Unplug your range from the wall outlet or turn off the circuit breaker associated with the appliance.
2. Open the oven door and remove any racks, pans, dishes or other accessories from inside.
3. Find the screws that attach the element to the oven wall and remove them using a screwdriver or nut driver.
4. Pull the element away from the oven wall. If it doesn’t easily come apart from the wall, you may need to unscrew the mounting brackets on either side of the element.
5. Unplug the electrical connections from the back of the old element and plug them into the new element.
6. Place the new element inside the oven where the old one was and secure it back to the wall with the screws you removed earlier.
7. Replace any accessories or racks in the oven and close the door.
8. Plug the range back into the wall outlet or turn on the circuit breaker associated with the appliance.
9. Turn on the oven and check to make sure the element is heating properly.
