Replacing the part may alleviate these issues. The igniter must glow white hot to properly light the burner; if it glows red or orange it is not functioning properly. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the gas range and novice repair experience. You must unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.
