DIY Guide to Replacing a WPW10715709 Whirlpool Ice Maker
1. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet and shut off the water supply.
2. Remove the access panel on the outside of the fridge. Depending on your refrigerator model, you may need to unscrew the screws or pop the panel off with a plastic putty knife.
3. Pull the ice maker out of its compartment and disconnect the electrical harness. This harness is located at the back of the unit.
4. Unscrew the water line from the back of the ice maker, then unscrew the mounting screws from the side of the unit.
5. Install the new ice maker by reversing the disassembly steps. Make sure the connector is secure and there are no leaks in the water line.
6. Turn the water supply back on and plug the refrigerator back into the wall outlet.
7. With the refrigerator powered on, flip the On/Off switch near the front of the unit. This will begin the ice-making cycle.
8. After a few minutes, you should start to see cubes forming. You can test the ice-maker by pressing the test/reset button near the front of the refrigerator.
