This Dishwasher Detergent Dispenser contains and releases the appliance’s detergent and rinse aid during the cleaning cycle. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dishwasher and novice repair experience. Remember to unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Recommended Parts: The Rinse-Aid Dispenser Cap (item WP8558307) may also need to be replaced when installing this part. Step 1: Shut off the power to the Whirlpool dishwasher. Unplug the dishwasher or turn the breaker off to the circuit.
Step 2: Locate the WPW10224428 dispenser cap. It should be located near the bottom of the front panel of the dishwasher. The dispenser cap will either be unscrewed, push-in, or twist-in, depending on your model.
Step 3: Remove the dispenser cap. To do this, turn counterclockwise if it is unscrewed, press down on the cap and pull it out if it is a push-in type, or twist counterclockwise and pull out if it is a twist-in type.
Step 4: Take out the old WPW10224428 dispenser by pulling it up and out.
Step 5: Insert the new dispenser into the opening.
Step 6: Re-attach the dispenser cap. To do this, turn clockwise if it is unscrewed, press down on the cap and push in if it is a push-in type, or twist clockwise and push in if it is a twist-in type.
Step 7: Turn the power back on and test the new dispenser. If it is working properly, your new WPW10224428 dispenser has been successfully replaced.
