DIY Instructions on Replacing the Whirlpool WPW10204548 Burner Grate
1. Unplug your stove from the power source and turn off the gas valve at the wall.
2. Lift off the cooking surface of your stove. Most models have either two or four knobs that secure the cooking surface. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the release notch and lever the knob up to release the seal.
3. Pull out the burner grates and drip pans from the stovetop. Depending on the model, it may be necessary to pull out the entire burner assembly before you can access the grate.
4. Slide the new grate onto the burner assembly, making sure the notches line up with those on the assembly. Secure the new grate with the screws provided.
5. Reinstall the burners and drip pans, followed by the cooking surface. Push the knobs into place, making sure they are secure.
6. Plug your stove back into its power source and turn the gas valve back on. Test the new grate by turning on a burner and using it as you would normally.
