WPW10185982 Whirlpool Timer
This Dryer Timer Assembly is used to control the unit's cycles by regulating the length of time that power is directed to each setting. If any of the contacts inside the part have burned out, or if the motor has shorted out and is no longer advancing the timer, this part may need to be replaced. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

Instructions on Replacing the WPW10185982 Whirlpool Timer
1. Before beginning any repair work, make sure to unplug the appliance from power and pull it away from the wall to access the back.
2. Remove the back panel and locate the timer control. It is usually mounted near the top of the panel.
3. Remove the mounting screws for the timer using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the timer out carefully, taking note of how the wires are connected, as you will need to replicate this connection when installing the new timer.
4. Unplug the existing timer from the electrical outlet. Take the opportunity to clean out the area behind the timer control.
5. Position the new timer in the same location the old one was removed from and align the mounting holes.
6. Secure the timer using the Phillips-head screwdriver and secure the wiring by replicating the same connection as that of the old timer.
7. Plug the new timer into the electrical outlet and replace the back panel of the appliance.
8. Plug the appliance back in and set the timer as desired.
