Replacing the Whirlpool WPW10185981 Timer: A DIY Guide

If you have a broken timer for your Whirlpool appliance, replacing it yourself is not too complicated. This guide will show you how to replace the Whirlpool WPW10185981 timer in a few simple steps.

Tools and Materials Needed:
-Screwdriver
-Replacement timer (Whirlpool WPW10185981)
-Voltage tester

Step 1: Shut off Power
Before you begin any repair, be sure to unplug the appliance, or turn off power at the circuit breaker, to prevent an electric shock or injury.

Step 2: Loosen Screws
Using your screwdriver, loosen the screws on the control panel cover. Once the screws are removed, gently lift off the cover to reveal the control panel. Unplug the harness from the old control panel.

Step 3: Install New Timer
Take your replacement timer and plug it into the back of the control panel. Secure the timer with the screws you removed in Step 2.

Step 4: Test Voltage
Double-check that the power to your appliance is off, then use a voltage tester to confirm the timer is working properly. If the voltage tester gives off a positive reading, then the timer was installed correctly.

Step 5: Replace Cover
Once the timer is tested, replace the control panel cover and tighten the screws.

You’re all done! Now your Whirlpool appliance is equipped with a new WPW10185981 timer and ready to use once again.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
