1. Turn off the power to the washer by unplugging it from the wall outlet. Make sure no water is in the washer before moving on to the next step.
2. Open the washer’s lid. Place a towel or cloth between the lid and the washer tub to help prevent any scratching.
3. Locate the two-part pump housing: the motor, which is on the left side of the washer, and the housing base on the right side.
4. Remove the hose clamps from the two hoses connected to the pump motor. Use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the two clamps.
5. Gently pull the two hoses off the motor. Put the hoses away so they do not get damaged during the rest of the repair.
6. Use a socket wrench to remove the three screws that hold the pump motor to the housing base. Once the screws are removed, lift the pump motor out.
7. Insert the new pump motor into the housing base. Secure the new motor with the three screws.
8. Reconnect the two hoses to the new motor. Make sure the hoses are tight and secure before continuing.
9. Replace the hose clamps onto the hoses. Use a flathead screwdriver once again to ensure the clamps are tight.
10. Replace the washer lid. Plug the washer back into the wall outlet, and turn on the power.
11. Test the new pump motor by running a cycle. Ensure the washer is draining properly before leaving the repair.
