Replacing the Whirlpool W11454738 GEARCASE (DW1):
Step 1: Unplug your dishwasher from any electrical outlets and turn off the water source.
Step 2: Remove the lower dishrack.
Step 3: Locate and remove the screws that are securing the door to the dishwasher body. There should be four in total.
Step 4: Carefully open the door and prop it open with a wooden dowel or something that won’t break it.
Step 5: Remove the bottom access panel located beneath the front of the dishwasher.
Step 6: Disconnect the wiring harnesses and the water line leading to the gearcase.
Step 7: Disconnect the mounting bolts that are holding the gearcase in place.
Step 8: Remove the old gearcase and install the new one.
Step 9: Secure it with the mounting bolts and make sure all the connectors are properly connected.
Step 10: Replace the bottom access panel and reassemble the door. Make sure the screws are tight.
Step 11: Turn the water source back on and plug the dishwasher back in.
Step 12: Test the dishwasher and make sure it’s working properly.
