Step 1: Prepare Your Tools
Gather the tools you will need to complete this task, such as a flat head screwdriver, adjustable pliers, and small pry bar.
Step 2: Locate and Remove the Current Filter
Unplug the refrigerator and locate the water filter. It should be located either in the top right-hand corner or the lower rear of the refrigerator. Use the adjustable pliers to unscrew and remove the filter.
Step 3: Insert the New Filter
Insert the new Whirlpool W11322423 filter into the slot and secure it using an adjustable wrench. Make sure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the water line.
Step 4: Reconnect the Water Line
Reconnect the water line to the filter and make sure it’s securely fastened. Plug the refrigerator back in and open the water valve to let the water flow through.
Step 5: Test the Filter
Wait a few minutes before turning on the ice maker, or run the water for several seconds to flush all the air out of the system. Make sure everything is connected properly before turning on the fridge and testing the filter.
