Step 1: Unplug the Refrigerator

Before beginning any repair, be sure to unplug the refrigerator. To do this, locate the plug on the wall and use a screwdriver to loosen the screws that hold it in place. Once the plug is removed, the refrigerator will no longer be receiving power.

Step 2: Remove the Back Panel

The back panel of the refrigerator must be removed in order to access and replace the W10897719 Whirlpool Ice Maker Water Inlet Valve. Step 4: Disconnect the Hoses

Now that you have located the valve, you can begin the replacement process by disconnecting the hoses that are connected to it. Use a pair of pliers to carefully detach the hoses from the valve. Be sure not to damage the hoses or the valve.

Step 5: Remove the Old Valve

Once the hoses have been disconnected, the old valve can be removed. Use a wrench to loosen the screws holding the valve in place. After the screws have been removed, you can carefully pull the valve out of the refrigerator.

Step 8: Replace the Back Panel

Once the hoses are connected, you can reattach the back panel of the refrigerator. Line up the panel with the holes in the refrigerator and use a screwdriver to secure it in place.
