W10853723 Whirlpool Water Valve

100% Guaranteed genuine parts logo
This Top Load Washer Water Inlet Valve allows water to fill in the washer during the cleaning cycle. If your washer isn’t getting any hot or cold water, one of the solenoids in the current valve may have failed. You may also need to replace this part if you find that your washer is filling slowly, not filling at all or leaking water onto the floor. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Recommended Item: Consider replacing the Fill Hose (item 8212487RP) at the same time you complete this repair. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner* (item W10501250) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.

Replacing the W10853723 Whirlpool Water Valve

1. Shut off the water supply to your refrigerator. Unplug the fridge to disconnect it from the power source.

2. Turn off the shut-off valve behind your refrigerator. If you do not have one, you will need to access the valve by taking the back panel off.

3. Remove the screws that hold the back panel in place and carefully remove the panel. There may be water lines running through the panel as well, so take care to avoid damage to these.

4. Locate the water valve near the bottom of the refrigerator and remove the two screws securing it in place. Once the screws are out, gently pull the water valve out from the fridge.

5. Disconnect the water supply lines from the old valve. Make note of where each line goes, as you’ll need to follow the same order when replacing the new valve.

6. Connect the new W10853723 water valve to the water supply lines. Make sure the connections are tight.

7. Replace the back panel of the refrigerator and carefully secure it with the screws you removed earlier.

8. Turn the shut-off valve on again and plug the refrigerator back into the power source. Turn on the water supply to the fridge and check for leaks.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
