Frequently Asked Questions About Range Parts

If you have questions about oven parts, we want to help. Below we have answered a few of the most common questions we hear about range replacement parts.

Why Is My Range Not Heating?

A range that's not heating is usually a failed bake element (electric) or a failed igniter (gas). Less common causes include a defective range temperature sensor, a failed control board, or a tripped breaker. See our Range Not Heating troubleshooting page for full diagnostic steps.

Why Does My Range Not Bake Evenly?

Uneven baking is usually caused by a failed convection fan motor (convection ranges), a defective bake or broil element, an inaccurate range temperature sensor, or improper rack positioning. Verify oven temperature with a separate oven thermometer before replacing any parts - calibration drift is common.

Why Won't My Gas Burner Light?

A gas burner that won't light is usually a clogged burner port (most common), a failed spark igniter, or a defective spark module. Clean the burner ports with a thin wire first - grease and food debris are the most common cause.

How Long Does A Range Igniter Last?

Most gas range igniters last 7-10 years. The most common symptom in the months before failure is increasingly long preheat times. If preheat is taking longer than 15 minutes, the igniter is likely on its way out.
