The following parts are replaced by this product

  1. WR50X10109
Step 1: Disconnect the Appliance’s Power Supply - Before performing any maintenance on the WR50X10108 GE refrigerator defrost thermostat, you will need to disconnect the appliance’s power supply. This can be done by unplugging the unit or by turning off the circuit breaker in your home's service panel.

Step 2: Locate the Defrost Thermostat - The thermostat can be found directly behind the temperature control in the lower-right side of the refrigerator's food compartment.

Step 3: Remove the Old Defrost Thermostat - Carefully remove the old thermostat from the wall. It is held in place with two screws. Unscrew these and gently pull the thermostat away from the wall.

Step 4: Remove the Wire Connectors - The defrost thermostat has two wire connectors connected to it. Disconnect them from the old thermostat and set aside.

Step 5: Install the New Defrost Thermostat - Take the new WR50X10108 GE refrigerator defrost thermostat and line up the screws with the holes in the wall. Gently press it into place and begin to tighten the two screws.

Step 6: Reconnect the Wire Connectors - Take the two wire connectors and reconnect them to the new thermostat. Be sure to firmly push them onto the terminals so that they are secure.

Step 7: Test the Unit - Once the new thermostat has been installed and the wires have been reconnected, you can now turn the power back on to the appliance. Allow the refrigerator to go through a complete cycle and check to make sure that everything is working properly.

Step 8: Clean Up - After the installation is complete, take the time to clean up any mess that you may have made while replacing the thermostat. Vacuum or sweep the area and give it one final check to make sure that everything is in its proper place.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
