Step 1: Unplug the Refrigerator - Begin by unplugging the GE refrigerator from the wall. This will ensure that no electricity will be running to the refrigerator while you are completing the repair.

This will release the shelf so you can remove it from the refrigerator. Always use a clean cloth when handling the shelf to protect it from dust and dirt.
Step 3: Replace the Shelf - Place the new shelf into the empty slot and press firmly on the side clips to secure it. Make sure the shelf is resting evenly and securely as an unbalanced shelf can become dangerous.
Step 4: Plug In and Test - After the shelf has been replaced, plug the refrigerator back into the wall and test to ensure everything is working properly. Then you can replace any items that were removed before beginning the repair process.
