Replacing the WE4X881 GE Rotary Start Switch
Tools Needed:
• Phillips head screwdriver
• Flathead screwdriver
• Wire stripper
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the power to the appliance and make sure the switch is in the OFF position.
2. Remove any screws or bolts securing the panel covering the start switch. Depending on the model of your appliance, you may need a Phillips or flathead screwdriver to remove the panel.
3. Once the panel is off, locate the start switch. The switch will be connected to the wiring of the appliance using wires.
4. Unscrew the screws that are holding the switch in place. You may need a Phillips or flathead screwdriver to remove them.
5. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the switch away from the wiring. Take note of the wiring connections so you can reconnect the new switch in the same manner once it is installed.
6. Carefully strip the insulation from the ends of the wires. This will prepare them for the new switch.
7. Place the new switch in the same spot as the old one, and secure it with the same screws.
8. Reattach the wires to the new switch in the same way as the previous one. Make sure the wiring connections are secure and tight before moving on.
9. Put the panel back in place, and secure it with the screws or bolts.
