Step-by-Step DIY Instructions on Replacing the GE WE18X20437 LINT Trap Assembly
1. Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet before replacing the lint trap assembly.
2. Open the dryer door and remove the lint filter and lint filter screen.
3. Remove the screws which secure the lint trap assembly to the back wall of the dryer with a Phillips screwdriver.
4. Pull the lint trap assembly out of the dryer opening and set it aside.
5. Install the new lint trap assembly by lining up the screw holes, inserting the screws and tightening them into place with a Phillips screwdriver.
6. Replace the lint filter, and filter screen on the new lint trap assembly.
7. Close the dryer door and plug the dryer back into the electrical outlet.
8. Complete the installation and test the new lint trap assembly by turning on the dryer and allowing it to operate for 10 minutes.
