1. Unplug the washer from its power source to ensure safety while working.
2. Remove the back panel of the washer using a flathead screwdriver, if necessary.
3. Take off the top panel using a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the screws.
4. Unscrew the three mounting screws of the drum and remove them. Make sure to support the drum as you remove it.
5. Unscrew the old GE WE03X27679 top bearing assembly 27" from the washer base and detach the plastic retainer from the bearing assembly.
6. Slide the new top bearing assembly into the slot where the old bearing assembly was located and secure it with the three mounting screws.
7. Reattach the plastic retainer to the new bearing assembly.
8. Place the drum back into the washer and re-screw the three screws.
9. Replace the washer's top panel and back panel using the appropriate Phillips head and flathead screwdrivers.
10. Plug the washer back in and test to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
