1. Unplug your refrigerator or turn off the circuit breaker.
2. Remove all items from the refrigerator and freezer compartments, including any shelving and bins.
3. Unscrew the screws at the top of the door using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
4. Pull the bottom of the door away from the refrigerator, and disconnect the wiring harness attached to the handle. (Be sure not to pull too hard, or you may damage the wiring.)
5. Slide the handle of the door.
6. Insert the new GE WR17X12492 handle into the hole in the door.
7. Reconnect the wiring harness.
8. Screw the screws back into the top of the door.
9. Plug your refrigerator in or turn the circuit breaker back on.
10. Replace any shelving and bins inside the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
