Step 1: Unplug the washing machine and move it away from the wall. Lay down a towel to protect the floor.
Step 2: Remove the screws on the back of the washing machine that hold the access panel in place. You'll need a screwdriver for this step.
Step 3: Take off the access panel and locate the GE WH11X29539 drain pump and filter.
Step 4: Disconnect the electrical wires from the pump. Make sure you note where each wire goes for assembly.
Step 5: Loosen and remove the clamps that secure the hose to the drain pump. Use pliers or a wrench if necessary.
Step 6: Pull the hose off the pump and set aside the old pump.
Step 7: Place the new GE WH11X29539 drain pump and filter in the same location as the old one, being careful to orient it in the same way as the original.
Step 8: Reattach the hose to the new pump using the clamps. Secure it tightly.
Step 9: Reconnect the electrical wires to the new pump in the same order they were connected to the old pump.
Step 10: Reattach the back access panel of the washing machine and secure the screws.
Step 11: Move the washing machine back into position and plug it in to test the new pump.
