Replacing the Speed Queen 35535 Washer, Nylatron Timer
Step 1: Shut Off the Power
Before starting any repair work, the power to the washer should be shut off. Unplug the washer from the wall outlet or shut off the breaker at the main electrical panel.
Step 2: Remove the Back Panel
Start by unscrewing and removing the back panel of the washer and carefully set it aside.
Step 3: Disconnect the Wires
Using a pair of needle nose pliers, gently remove the wire connectors from the timer terminals.
Step 4: Remove the Old Timer
Unscrew the mounting screws that hold the washer’s old timer in place. Carefully pull the timer out and discard it.
Step 5: Install the New Timer
Take the new timer and insert it into the control panel. Securely fasten it with the mounting screws.
Step 6: Attach the Wires
Connect the wiring harness that runs to each side of the washer to the proper terminals on the timer. Make sure the wires are firmly connected so there is no risk of loose connections.
Step 7: Close Up the Washer
Return the back panel to its original location and re-secure it with the screws.
Step 8: Test the Washer
Plug the washer back into the wall outlet and turn the power back on. Select a cycle and start the washer to test if the timer is successfully replaced.
